WAMUN XI

     Welcome delegates to the Disarmament and International Security Committee. This committee consists of dealing with disarmament, global challenges and threats to peace that affect the international community and seeks out solutions to the challenges in the international security regime. DISEC considers all matters within the scope of the Charter or relating to the powers and functions of any other organ of the United Nations. This committee works in close cooperation with the United Nations Disarmament Commission and the Geneva-based Conference on Disarmament. It is the only committee of the General Assembly entitled to verbatim records coverage.

 

     Now that you know about the Disarmament and International Security Committee, I will take some time to introduce myself. My name is Enrique Fábregas and I will be your Chair for WAMUN 2016. I have past experience as a chair in WAMUN 2015 and have gone to more than fifteen models throughout elementary and high school. Your co-chair in the committee will be Anaís Lorentz and the secretary will be Carlos Graterol; both having previous MUN experience. I would like to encourage you all to give your best in this edition of the conference. In order to do this you would have to research far more than just reading the booklet so each one of you can demonstrate full understanding of their country and the topics.
